In anticipation of their shakedown at Silverstone the following weekend, the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team has released digital mockups of their 2024 car’s livery, the VF-24.
Following a week of F1 news that was primarily focused on the future—contract extensions for Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc, the rejection of Andretti’s attempt to join the 2025/26 grid, and Lewis Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari for 2025—Haas has returned the focus of their efforts to the present year as they begin the car launch season.
Gene Haas, team owner and chairman of the Haas Team, stated, “I’m looking forward to seeing the VF-24 running and racing—a sentiment I know I share with our partners and indeed the entire team.”
“We also know we have a superb pair of drivers behind the wheel in Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen; their experience will prove useful again as we build our program throughout the year. We have improved our overall performance by putting stronger processes in place during the off-season. We will soon be able to assess our progress.
The car maintains Haas’ standard color scheme of black, red, and white. Although the lineup of drivers and the car are largely unchanged from the previous season, this is Ayao Komatsu’s first launch in the role of Team Principal after he was elevated from Director of Engineering following Guenther Steiner’s contract cancellation last month.
Although Komatsu expressed excitement for the season to begin, he doesn’t think the club will be competitive at first: “I continue to believe that we will start the Bahrain race toward the back of the grid, if not last.
“We started late and took a two-month break to complete the Austin improvement, which is the reason why our launch-spec car won’t be fast enough in Bahrain—not the caliber of individuals working here. We lost time because it truly diverted resources, but the team is making progress in the wind tunnel, so that’s encouraging, and in terms of characteristics, things are moving in the right direction.
Although we don’t have high hopes for the VF-24 to get underway, the car’s debut is always a fascinating part of the Formula 1 season. With everything we have to get done, I’m sure we’ll make the most of our time in Bahrain. In summary, we are eager to begin and bring the season to a close.
Oliver Bearman and Pietro Fittipaldi, two reserve drivers, will assist Haas’ driver lineup. Fittipaldi joined the team in 2019 and replaced the injured Romain Grosjean in the final two rounds of the 2020 campaign. As a rookie last season, Bearman drove in two complimentary practice sessions for Haas. Over the course of the 2024 season, the British adolescent is expected to participate in six free practices with the club.
