Nokian Tyres Adopts New International Ice Marking for Winter Tires

Drivers may be aware with the three-peak mountain snowflake insignia, which certifies that a tire has been tested on snow, but Nokian Tyres has announced the availability of a new emblem to signify outstanding performance in icy circumstances – a globally agreed-upon ice grip marking from Nokian. The ice grip sign can be found on the labels and sidewalls of Nokian Tyres’ latest-generation winter products, the studded Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta 10 and non-studded Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5, according to the firm. Both tires are available in passenger car, SUV, and electric vehicle versions.

Nokian Tyres announced last year that it was an early adopter of the new ice grip marking, and the Finland-based firm also played a vital part in defining the specifications for the insignia, which were established through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The ice grip logo denotes that winter tires go above and beyond in terms of ice safety. To be eligible for the ice grip marking, tires’ ice performance must be validated by an accredited independent test facility using an internationally agreed-upon ice braking test. To get the emblem, tires must outperform a typical reference tire by at least 18%.
